Send me a few photos of the swollen area and I'll tell you what can be done and give you a price.
Water gets into a worktop wherever the surface is broken: a joint, a sink cut-out or the edge above a dishwasher. The board underneath swells, the edge lifts and the damage keeps spreading until it's sealed. Caught early, most of it can be repaired without replacing the worktop.
✓ Over 20 years of cosmetic surface repair, now worktops only.
✓ Swollen edges and joints flattened, rebonded and sealed.
✓ Colour and pattern rebuilt by hand.
✓ Steam protection fitted above dishwashers where needed.
✓ Most repairs completed in one visit.
✓ Fast photo quotes on WhatsApp.

02 · WHAT I REPAIR
How I repair water-damaged worktops
Most kitchen worktops are a chipboard core under a laminate or veneer surface. Once water gets in, the board swells and pushes the surface up. The repair has to dry out, flatten and seal the board as well as hide the damage, or it will simply swell again.
1. Assessment: I check from your photos how far the swelling has spread.
2. Drying: the area is opened up and dried out.
3. Rebond and flatten: lifted edges are glued and clamped back down; badly blown board is cut back and rebuilt.
4. Seal: the edge or joint is sealed so water can't get back in.
5. Colour and finish: the pattern is painted back in by hand and the finish matched.
If the board has crumbled right through, a repair can improve it but may not make it perfect, and I'll tell you before I start. These are the materials I repair:

Quartz doesn't swell, but water gets in at joints and sink cut-outs. I reseal and refinish them.

Granite can darken where water soaks in by the sink. I reseal the stone and refinish the joints.

Marble stains and etches where water sits. I refine the area, restore the finish and reseal it.

Corian doesn't swell, but failed joints and sink seals let water in. I repair and reseal them.

Swollen laminate edges and joints are dried, rebonded, sealed and the pattern painted back in.

Dekton is waterproof, but water can get in at joints and cut-outs. I reseal them and repair edges.
Other worktop damage I repair
Water damage often comes with other wear, such as chipped edges, burns or cracks. These can usually be repaired at the same visit.
Send photos of everything you'd like fixed and I'll price it all together.
Edge, corner and sink cut-out chips, rebuilt to the original profile and colour matched by hand.
Hot-pan burns and scorch marks are removed or filled and the colour and texture restored.
Cracks are stabilised, filled and refinished so the worktop looks right and stays usable.
Scratches and dull patches are polished or refined back to an even finish.

03 · PRICE
How much does swelling repair cost?
Repairs start from £195. The price depends on how far the swelling has spread, and I confirm a fixed price from your photos.
Repair or replace?
Swollen edges don't have to mean a new kitchen worktop. Repairing them saves the cost of replacing and refitting.
Replacing a worktop means
✕ Disconnecting and refitting the sink, tap and plumbing
✕ Disconnecting and refitting the hob or cooker
✕ Tiles and splashbacks sealed in above it, often damaged coming off
✕ Removing and disposing of the old worktop
✕ Risk of damaging units, walls and cabinets on removal
✕ Weeks of waiting for templating, cutting and fitting
✕ Dust, mess and a kitchen out of action
It all adds up, in cost and in risk.

04 · WHY ME
Why choose me for water damage repair
A swollen worktop only stays fixed if the board underneath is dried, flattened and sealed first. I've spent over 20 years on cosmetic surface repairs and worktops are now all I do, so I know how far water damage can be saved. I carry out every water damage repair myself, and if the board has gone too far, I'll tell you before you spend a penny.
✓ Over 20 years specialising in cosmetic surface repairs, with worktops now my sole focus
✓ Hyperrealism artist with the eye to recreate colour, texture and natural finishes
✓ Every repair carried out personally by me from start to finish, never subcontracted
✓ Honest advice before any work begins. If I can't achieve a repair I'd be proud to leave, I'll tell you
What makes an invisible worktop repair?
Water damage hides in the board.
The surface you see is only part of it. If the swollen board underneath isn't dried, flattened and sealed, the edge will lift again within weeks.
I fix the cause first. Then, as a hyperrealism artist, I rebuild the colour and pattern by hand.
That's what makes a water damage repair last, and disappear into the worktop.
Colour matching
Every manufacturer uses different pigments, patterns and finishes. I mix colours specifically for your repair rather than relying on off-the-shelf repair kits.
Texture recreation
Smooth worktops are relatively straightforward. Stone-effect laminates, quartz and granite need the original texture and pattern recreated so the repair blends naturally.

Water damaged worktop repair: FAQs
Often, yes. If the swelling is caught early, the edge can be dried, rebonded, flattened and sealed, then the colour matched. Send me a photo and I'll tell you honestly.
Water or steam has got into the chipboard core through a joint, a cut-out or an unsealed edge. Dishwasher steam is one of the most common causes.
Not if the cause is dealt with. I seal the repair, and above a dishwasher I can fit a steam protection strip.
Most water damage repairs are finished in one visit of a few hours.
