The damage
Ian has a large Corian kitchen worktop that had picked up lots of surface scratches, chips along the edges and general wear. Many people only see the scratches and don't realise their Corian is chipped until it's sanded.
How I repaired it
I started by inspecting the whole surface. You can't sand out deep scratches, because that leaves a dip you can see in the reflection, so anything deep gets filled instead. I sanded the whole worktop with 180 grit, with no pressure, letting the sander do the work. That gives an even surface and shows up every scratch and chip.
I filled the chips on the front edge face with colour-matched epoxy, as they sit more out of sight, and used UV-curing resin on the top for a perfect match. Then I drew pencil lines all over the surface and sanded until they were gone, so I knew it was sanded evenly. I worked up through the grits to 800 and finished with a grey Scotch-Brite for a satin, factory-type finish. It took about 3.5 hours.
The result
An even satin finish across the whole worktop, with the scratches and chips gone. Ian has since asked me back for more work.
