Pan Burn on Speckled Laminate Worktop Repaired in Salford
A hot pan left a ring burnt into Ricky's speckled laminate worktop by the sink. I rebuilt the speckle one dot at a time.

DAMAGE
Burn (hot pan)
TIME ON SITE
2.5 to 3 hours
The damage
A hot pan had left a ring on Ricky's dark grey speckled laminate worktop, right next to the sink. Two curved sections had burnt through the surface to the brown core underneath.
How I repaired it
I removed the burnt material, took a little depth out for the filler to bond, then filled, sanded flat, primed and airbrushed a matched base colour.
Speckled worktops are some of the hardest to repair. A lot of repairers flick paint on with a toothbrush, but that spreads the repair and turns a small job into a big one. I apply each dot one by one, in different sizes, tight to the repair, because less is more. Matching the colours of the dots took time, and so did placing them. Then I sealed it with lacquer and buffed it smooth. It took about 2.5 to 3 hours.
The result
The ring has gone and the speckle runs straight through the repair.
Aftercare is simple: use a chopping board and trivets, clean with soapy water and a soft microfibre cloth, nothing acidic, and never scour the repaired area. Light use after an hour, normal use the next day.
